Why can´t inventor find all the files when the file is there ?

we have this error some times , that inventor can´t find the file.. the problem is that the file is there both in vault and inventor.. and if I restart that computer then the error is not there anymore. Why does that happen and is there a know fix to it ?

I am using vault pro 2020 and inventor 2020.. We have seen it form time to time .. but it have happe alot the last month

Just adding we've experienced this difficulty from version 2016 and beyond. We're now using 2021 and it still happens.

It's as if there is a network hiccup or something and Inventor and/or Vault loses the ability to see files where they are.

This happens to me when my computer is faster than the network speed. So your local copy of Inventor is looking for files it can't find yet because the server may be busy (with other tasks) at the time of the request. Do you need a faster server, more server RAM, etc.?

IV looking for "version 27" of that file.

Either local file is out of sync with Vault.

Or you're trying to open assemblies that use different version of the same part.

Hi Folks,

Try the following two things and see if they help. 1) When the error pops up, go to Inventor -> File -> Manage -> Refresh. Does it work then?

2) It could also be related to the fact that certain Inventor dlls are not loaded at the time they have to be. Inventor loads dlls dynamically depending on the document type. It helps boost the startup performance. But, for whatever unknown reason (security or antivirus or system process), sometimes certain dlls are blocked from being loaded. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables -> create a new variable "DYNAMIC_LOAD_APPLETS" and set it to 0. This will force Inventor to load all dlls on start. The only drawback of having this variable set at zero is slightly longer starup time (barely noticeable on a SSD drive).

The problem comes as a user open the file and inventor say it can´t file the some files..even if the files is locale on the computer. the only way we so fare is to restart .. can´t remember if it only need to restart inventor or you have to restart the computer... but the problem seens to go away when the computer have restart at least for some peiode of time. I my cause many days.. but for other have almost have it ever day this week. ... that that users have just got his harddisk replace..and the computer reinstallet

Just got the same problem.

Vault Historical Version.

I opened an old assembly that used old Rev of some common parts for other projects.

Part is Rev 2, the old assembly used Rev 0.

While the assembly was opened, I try to open that part and IV keep saying it cannot find the file.

Need to close IV.

Now the question is why IV didn't use the new version?

Hi Folks,

I am not sure if "Refresh" command has been used. The command does exactly what should be done, loading the latest version of the file from disk, when the older version has been loaded in the memory.

I've tried "Get" in Vault menu in IV.

Close all the files, open the part and still got the old version.

Any assembly that need the new version will get the File not found error.

Close IV and restart was the only solution.

Hi! Please use Refresh command after the Get. This is the only way to reload the file on disc (when a newer version is on disk after the same named file was loaded).
