Frame generator - orientation of part

Hello,

I am using frame generator to create a welded handrail framework. I have a 2d sketch that the component parts are attached to. I need to move it off centre by 25mm in the X and 1" in the Y, this is not a problem, it is the direction that the part moves.

I have used the align to align it with the top of the post. The organ line is the blue line on the right.

If you look closely at the gold arrows they are not aligned with the RGB arrows.

The only way i have found to get around this is to measure from a plane in the round part to somewhere that it flat, ie top of post. and ad this angle to the rotate in frame generator change box.

It seems to me that the theoretical Z of the line is not perpendicular to the plane it was created upon (if that makes sense)

Does anyone know of a way of setting the organ direction that the parts moves?

Try aligning the profile with other parts of the armature that can be used as axes for the displacement directions.

Test and see how the profile (orientation) behaves if you choose different edges and surfaces for reference.

Hi Kacper, if you mean the alignment in the 'insert frame' or 'change' boxes, it's is aligned along the green arrow.

Yes. Now check out the other 10 possibilities.

Someone on the forum can check it out. But if you don't want to share files, you have to test it yourself.

Option 1 -> you check; possibility 2 -> you check; variant 3 -> you check; combination 4 -> check.

It will take you 2 minutes, it's less time and nerves than someone would speculate it without real files.

...well, we uderstand... but without the files we can say much about what is going on...

You can try to do a dummy example that replicate the issue and share...

Don't do this by adding a dimension after the fact. Do this by adjusting the offset values in the frame generator user interface, if that makes sense,

It's not clear to me that you've tried this, or that you are attempting to accomplish your offset using these settings. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

Mo i used the dims in the box, that's the point, it has moved the part the correct amount, but not perpendicular to the plane of the lines organ sketch.

Hi all, and thanks for the help. I just created this image to add more information and to show how the alignment was achieved... when i spotted a check box (red) that i hadn't spotted before and un-checked it, and wallah it lined up exactly how i expected it to.
