Styles in Template Don't Appear When Using Template

I have these weldment styles saved in my template, but they don't appear when I go to use the template. I can still find them if I filter for "All Styles", but why aren't they in my local?

Hi, check, that your project has read/write option in using Style Library.

Then Open your template, Open the Manage tab and synchronize your styles.

@Alexander_Chernikov and @johnsonshiue my style library is read-write, I was editing my style library within my template and then clicking "save" to save it.

I went through each style and clicked "save in document". They are now greyed out because they were saved into the document (at least is my understanding)

Still when I open a new drawing, they don't appear with the Local Styles filter.

@johnsonshiue not exactly sure how to share with you the template so that you can see everything - do I need to pack and go it? Also, is there anyway I could send the file privately?

When Standard are in library, it won't copy to new file.

Unless it is used.

Do you really need to use different Standard for Assembly, Weldment?

I have Imperial and Metric Dimension in same standard. All models are imperial.

Are you saying if a style is not the active standard in my template, it won't show up when I use that template for a new drawing? Because some of my non-active standards do copy over.

I am switching between imperial and metric for my primary units as well as their default precision values. The assemblies and weldments have different default parts lists.

Hi Allison,

I took another look at this issue. Now I think I know why these standards were removed. This is because those standards were never used in any of the objects (border, sketch symbol, text, titleblock). There is no dependency between the existing objects and those unused standards. As a result, when you start a new drawing based on the template, the unused standards are removed.

You may wonder why such dependency does not exist even though some titleblocks are named after Weldment standards. I think those titleblocks were created when the active standard isn’t one of the Wedment standards (or copy and paste). To “use” a standard, you need to create an object referencing the standard, so that the standard is used and it will not be deleted.

Hello Johnson,

I am discovering this thread because I recently created a new parts list style, and I want it to be available when I create a new drawing based on a template.

My template .IDW already has several custom parts list styles that show as "in use", and ARE available when I create a new .IDW based on that template, despite the fact that I don't knowingly have any parts lists in the template. It's just the typical border and title block.

I can bring the new parts list style into my template document, but it shows as not "in use". In a new IDW created based on that template, that parts list style is not available.

I have sort of muddled along with Styles for years. You've just helped me decrease my ignorance of them in an important way.
