Inventor 2026 - CC pattern

How does automatic feature pattern recognition work when inserting standard parts (CC)?

I expected to be able to automatically insert screws into all the holes drilled in the assembly at once.
In the meantime, the algorithm recognizes the pattern only in the area of one part.

I'm creating a tutorial discussing new features and was hoping to show users the revolution; I was a bit disappointed.

What was the intention of the programmers?
What was the idea behind implementing this new feature?

Or at least... give the chance to use an existent pattern to create a new one.

I think it would be applicable to steel and wooden structures, for example.

I have more questions:

So how is this different from "Insert Many", which has been available for years?
Do you see any specific use case? Any added value over and above the "Insert Many option?

Hi @kacper.suchomski! What you have shown looks like a serious disadvantage.

To your questions: I would have assumed that the pattern of components remains associative to the feature pattern. Unfortunately that is not the case. So, I do not really see the point in this functionality…

Hi Kacper,

for Autodrop it is now By Design. We inserting CC parts to one part only.

What is the added value of this new feature?
What can the user do after updating to version 2026 that they could not do before?

Hi Kacper,

in 2026 we improved an Autodrop to support Assembly pattern.

So we added exactly what is described in 2026 What's new

When using AutoDrop, you can now select patterns (circular, rectangular, and sketch-driven) created in an assembly environment. The "Follow Pattern" option has been enabled for assembly patterns.

Assembly feature patterns and assembly feature patterns in weldments are supported.

Before we supported in Autodrop only hole pattern created directly in part document.

I've checked this several times. AutoDrop supported feature patterns in assembly files in previous versions.

I really don't see any difference.

I'm looking for a scenario that I can't do in 2025 version, but I can do it in 2026 version.

Hi Kacper,

what is in your video is "Insert Multiple", it was there before the 2026 and it allows you to insert by Autodrop fasteners into the same holes. This option is looking for all the same holes, doesn't matter how they were been created.

But "Follow pattern" is looking only for holes created by one pattern, so from this point of view it is something like a filter.

Hope that it helps to understand a difference between these two options.
