Hello,

Is there a way to export a .JT file to .STEP? When I do this the file is empty.

Hi!

First you have to import the JT in Inventor.

Check if the file is a solid... sometimes the model is imported as surfaces (usually yellow or orange faces).
If so, STITCH the surfaces to turn them into a solid.
Save the file, and now you can save it as a STEP.

I sent the file in question, unfortunately it is surface, is there any way to convert it to a STEP file?

Hi!

The problem is worst than i thought.
The model is a mesh, not surfaces.
First, you have to turn the mesh into surfaces or solids (depending on the part)

Then you can use the stitch to turn the surfaces into solids.

The problem is, some parts are a little complex and will take a lot of time to solve.

i tried a couple and went well and i managed to have some solids, but others parts will take a looooot of time.

I believe you can find this model in other formats in the web

Thanks for the answer, I will probably find this model on the internet, but I will look for solutions on how to quickly convert JT files to STEP of entire robotic stations or at least individual devices. Do you know any other program that can do this?

Hi! Indeed, the JT file contains only mesh. Inventor has very limited ability to handle mesh. You may want to look into Fusion 360. There you can clean up the mesh, combine the mesh, and turn the mesh back to bodies. Then you can export to STEP.
