For a project our customers requires a IFC file to integrate our equipment in their BIM model.

Which initially is not much of a problem, however they ask for all suppliers to keep the same reference point.

As their reference point lays about 165m from mine I was hoping to be able to export to a IFC file with an offset in the origin.

Is there any possibility to do this without having to change the origin of my IAM?

In case this might of influence, I'm using Inventor 2024 build 153

Hi Marcus,

Thank you for your reply.

I had been trying with the UCS(as it is in the english version), however I'm not able to type in the coorindates like you seem to be.

I can only place it with my mouse, is this a setting which you have altered from the default?

Hello,

when i click on UCS and drag the cursor in the middle of the screen, it looks like shown in the picture below. Then i can enter the coordinates via keyboard and change axis with the tab key. I didnt change the settings from all i know.

Hi Marcus,

Are you able to select a work point in a IAM to place the ucs?

So far I only seem to be able to do so in a IPT.

Within a IAM I'm only able to place it randomly with my mouse without any constraint to the origin or whatsoever.

Br

Koen

Ok, I might have been to quick with posting my previous reply.

After placing my UCS I was able to define an absolute position per axis, I didn't seem able to alter all 3 axis at the same like in your screenshot.

Anyway it works for me like this.

Hi, the IFC export process is essentially the same as RFA, whatever UCS you pick in 'Author Building Components' will align with 0,0,0 of the export. So if you place a UCS 165mm from the Inventor model origin, and select that in the author command, you can shift your geometry to where it needs to be.
We are working on better locating exported IFC data, but it is not available in 2025 or earlier.
