I just upgraded to 2024 and still no way to add a plot stamp... 🤬

I would love to have the "plot stamp" utility like we have in ACAD in Inventor. Unfortunately, that is not available. There may be some third-party apps that do this, but I have not searched for that in a while. The beauty about the ACAD plotstamp is that it does not make any edits to the actual dwg file, which is perfect since we use Vault.

What I do is print on my idws a "Lasted saved" date and time. This is stored and written in the idw border when it is saved. It does not show the print date, but it does show the saved date, which is sufficient for us. This is what it looks like on my idws.

Let me know if that would work for you and I can explain how to set this up.

Yes, I wish AutoDesk would add this feature...

Could you please explain how you made this happen?

Would this be something that is added per .idw? Or can it be added to the .idw template?

I assume also, that "Last Saved" wording can not be changed?

I setup the border and have Addin to add custom property:

Addin compiled for 2018, still work in 2023.

Probably iLogic could do similar.

Its a two step process. First you modify your idw template to include the parameters.

On my idw, here is what the template looks like.

Second you load the Add-in. What this add-in does is whenever you save the idw, it creates two variables in the iproperties. It creates SysDate and SysTime custom parameters. To install the the code, unzip the attachment. Place the files on this path %appdata%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Addin_with_Doc _Saved_Event. You will have to manually create the "Addin_with_Doc_Saved_event" folder in %appdata%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins.

Set the add-in to load automatically. Now it should run when you save the idw and write the info to the drawing.

The file path mentioned in the post, I do not have that folder when it gets to "Addin_with_Doc _Saved_Event". Is this a folder that I would have to create?

Ok, now I feel dumb... I am trying to set up the .idw template and nothing is working.

My plan is to load both of the add-ins that you both sent me, one at a time... Mainly to see which one looks better for me. I started with the one from Pineapple.

To add the text to the .idw template... would I just edit the title block and add the text? Or just add the text as normal with editing any of the existing stuff on the .idw?

Hey sir, for some reason, Inventor is blocking the add-in that you sent me. not sure why though...

A difference I notice between yours and the other is that yours has way more files than the other one sent to me. Again, not sure what Inventor is having an issue with on this.

I added text to Border.

After you click Print, you can cancel it and 2 Custom Properties will be added.

You can use those in any textbox any where you like.

In my screenshot: Printed: <LastPrintDate> By: <LastPrintUser> will show,

If you only need Date and Time, just use Printed: <LastPrintDate>

Hmmm would be better if it's split into Date and Time.

I have added both add-ins seperatly, the only one that shows up is the one from Pineapple...

Would it be possible to know/see what you have in these locations so that I can try and match them on my end. I am not seeing where the date/time/user gets linked.

The files that I included should be two files. The .addin and the .dll. They have to be in the folder I mentioned, or the add-in will not be loaded. The complete path to mine is C:\Users\<your user name here>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Addin_with_Doc_Saved_Event\AddIn_With_Document_Saved_Event.dll

A few things to look out for:

1. Make sure the add-in is loaded. Tools> Add-ins. Load behavior should say Automatic/Loaded.

In the idw template, when you add the parameters, you have to select the parameter from the drop-down and then pick the "Add text parameter" button.
