I was trying to free-rotate this drivetrain with a lot of different parts and every time I hit confirm It messes up the positioning of all the parts, video below.

I would look for a part (or several) that has a constraint to the planes and/or axes in the assembly origin. These will make the rotation impossible to solve. At the same time there could also be parts not fully constrained to each other.

EDIT: Can't check the files at the moment as I'm writing from my phone.

One thing to remember:

An assembly file contains the path to the various sub-components and the constraints between them. It does not actually contain any geometry.

Use Pack-n-Go to collect all the files to actually open an assembly. Use the .zip option or the native Window compression tool to create a package to share on the forum.

It will be easier for forum users to help with your issue if you post the pack-n-go.

It also helps to state the version of Inventor that you are using. Older versions of Inventor can't open newer version with a full model tree. Sometimes forum users may post a solution or reference file in a version that you can't open.

Hi! I suspect a subassembly will help this case. When a group of components need to move together, usually putting them in a subassembly is a logical step.

Many thanks!
