Why should we install "Inventor Interoperability 2023"?

From the Product Documentation: Inventor Interoperability is a component that provides Autodesk products full read and write access to Inventor data, including metadata, geometry, materials, and textures.

Interoperability is AnyCAD, so importing 3rd party files and also sending files to Revit.

Whether that's what's in the update is another matter, the release notes will probably say.

Edit: The release notes point to what Chris posted, which I agree, is not particularly helpful either.

Hi! As Chris and James mentioned here, it is the component shared by Autodesk products (except Inventor) when it tries to open Inventor files. It needs this component. Just as Revit Interop is needed when Inventor tries to open Revit files.

I knew Johnson would beat me to it, but here is the response I got.

Inventor Interoperability (formerly known as Inventor Server) is an Autodesk internal component which is used to read/write Inventor files. We have now a lot of Autodesk Products using it for reading/writing Inventor files.

At the same time, it serves as a CAD file format conversion for some CAD file formats.

I am a beginner in AutoCAD and Inventor. I tried to import an Inventor part in AutoCAD. I got this message from AutoCAD (Picture2).

Then, the next one: (Picture3).

And, finally, the last: (Picture4)

So, my conclusion is that one of the Inventor Interoperability utilities refers to the capability of exporting Inventor parts to other CAD systems (AutoCAD, in my case).

Are there other advantages of the Inventor Interoperability?

Can you mention here, please?

Hi George,

Inventor Interoperability is a software component for other Autodesk products to read Inventor ipt/iam files. In your case, you want to use VIEWBASE to create drawing views of Inventor parts/assemblies. I believe you do need to have Inventor Interoperability installed so that when the Inventor parts/assemblies are updated, AutoCAD can update the drawing accordingly.
