Hi,

I have been having issues with the data design synch from the previous version. Using the same location as I did in 2023 gives me the warning below.

Has extras been added to the data design which is causing this issue?

You'll have to copy the missing (read: new) folders from this location (on your local computer; they were installed there during the installation of IV2024) to the network location you are showing (even thought it says "2021"):

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\Design Data

Also: make sure your Project File is pointing to the correct location since that will override the settings you are showing from Application Options.

I agree with @mluterman - there are new things in the 2024 Design Data folder that weren't available in 2021, so your 2024 installation will complain that they're missing. (Things like the new "Finish" feature have their own folder in Design Data, and there are a load more lighting styles, and other stuff.)

Compare your O:\Inventor 2021\Design Data with C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\Design Data and copy the missing files. Then use the "Style Library Manager" tool to migrate the library.

An arguably safer option is to create O:\Inventor 2024\Design Data and copy over all of C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\Design Data. Set your 2024 Project active and open all your templates and save the Styles Library changes back to the new Styles Library. That way there's no danger of losing anything - and you get to keep all the changes you made in your old templates. (This method assumes you saved all your style changes into your templates!)

Thanks guys. Do you know where the materials, S275 and S355 for example, I have made in previous versions would be saved? Would that be in the one XML file?

I guess the material is saved in a writeable material libary. Go to your Project File and see, which libraries are in the project settings set.

Try it with the project file, with the old inventor version. There you can check the library path.

If you do it in the new Inventor and the library is missing, it only tells you, that it is missing. But you can not see the path, were the project file is looking for the library.
