How do get a center line to follow a shape, ie as if you were offsetting a continuous line in a sketch.

I don't want all those overlaps I got using the centre line command where you can only select a single edge and then its opposite edge. I want to select a whole series of joined tangential lines as my first selection and then another

series of joined lines as my second selection. Like I said, almost like the offset command and then making the offset a chain line.

I can do this in a sketch, but want to know if there is particular center line command or way of using it

to produce the same effect

Mike Kovacik

South Africa

I would do that in a sketch, but not in the .dwg view, I would do it at the .ipt level, this way it always stays (and is linked) with the part. Then, in the .dwg, click "Get Model Sketches" (in Part Priority) and "Include" in the Browser Tree to see it in your .dwg view (as long as the plane that contains the sketch is parallel to the sheet plane of the .dwg).

Ha, good reply! Yup, they created that worthless idea forum after I quit giving them good advice. I quit b/c I realized they don't give a rip about our expert opinions. All they give a rip about is their investor profits. We end users are their 'picking field' for revenues (stock ratings). That's how all bureaucrats and business people look at us corporate slaves. Leeches...social parasites one and all!
