Error pointing to nothing - What is that?

What is that?

I am getting this error message in sheet metal.

There no problems indicated by design doctor.

This message is popping up on edit of any feature in the part.

I have redefined all sketches. Error message still there.

Seemingly there is nothing that should cause any error in the model. Everything looks defined properly.

I have no clue. Non at all.

Somehow, some faces can´t be found after some operations.
Defining the A-side on the first face will do the trick:

Define-A side is dimmed

Also flat pattern is incorrect

Delete the flat first.

Just figured that out.

Also It fixes it self once flat pattern is deleted.

Hi Cris,

The original flat pattern was corrupted somehow. I suspect the FP was created earlier or it was already in the template file. Then as the sheet metal part is developed, the face used to define the FP starting face is no longer available. If you can reproduce the behavior from scratch, please let me know asap.

Hi,

I have no time now to try to reproduce it.

I do however have a suspicion how this happens:

1) 3D model of the part is being built

2) At some point flat pattern is created. Most likely it uses last flat face as a reference.

3) Further part edits are performed such that face used as a reference for flat pattern is lost (deleted as part is rolled back or some features are deleted).

4) at this point error is reported.

5) further edits are done disregarding error. At this point every operation gives an error.

6) Flat pattern is accessible, but is incorrect as it is not being updated due to lost reference.

You can try to get this done, or simply you can make low level edit of the part structure to intentionally delete objects from development levle.
