Capturing Primary Model State in Title Block

We have title blocks that utilize the part number and description in them, populated automatically from either the part or an assembly. This has worked well for us, yet we are now using model states more.

Consider that the part has two model states for it. For example, it creates a XXX-01 part and XXX-02 part, yet the primary (model state) file name is XXX. The XXX-01 and XXX-02 both have two different descriptions, which I'm populating in the base view of each part. That also works well.

In this instance, I'm looking to populate the title block with the XXX and primary model state description. For some reason, it's wanting to populate with the XXX-01 or XXX-02 (depending which part base view is on the first sheet).

The question then becomes, is there a way to capture just the primary data in the title block? I currently have a work around, using custom iProperties, yet am more interested in not having to maintain these separately. Hopefully there's something simple that I'm just not aware of.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just tried it, looks like you will need to do the following:

1. Start with a blank drawing.

2. Insert a Base View of Primary Model State first, this way you can "drop in" the correct PN in your title block (screenshot example below). This appears to be a restriction where it's only looking for Primary.

3. Move the Primary Base View outside the field of the drawing (it was only used to get the correct PN in the title block). Create a new Base View on the same sheet using your -001 or -002 part.

Thanks for your input. I did start working in that direction, with the exception of inserting a base view of the primary and moving it outside of the drawing area. Unfortunately, our standards don't allow for doing that.

What I did is set up two custom iProperties for manually inputting these into the title block..

Then, I just added those two items to the iLogic form. These are then populated in a different title block with the custom iProperty fields. The goal would be to carry over the exact info without the extra part.

The upside is that you do understand the end result I'm looking for. We just cannot have the extra part outside of the border to set the title block.
