Texture "repeating itself" at center of part. - Inventor

I at trying to add a simple texture to a simple box. But the texture is not one made for tiling, so it looks ugly, when it repeat itself.
How do I stop that from happening? I have tried adjusting the things I have beea able to find and test, but haven't been able to fix this issue.
It seam like the texture starts from the center om the box instead of from the end, as I would find natural.

I had the box half the lenght at first, but it then still had the texture tiling in the middle (and only tiling twice as now in the picture below).

I have tried to adjust the offset, and it do make the preview change, but nothing happens on the part:
(Rotation do rotate the texture at the part, as expected).

So what to do?

Hello! After you adjusted the offset did you remove and reapply the texture to the part? (I haven't tried this myself). What version of Inventor did you use for this?

What if you open the texture in some picture editor and mirror it at its middle?

You would take ABCD and make it ABBA so when it tiles instead of ABCDABCD you get ABBAABBA

I do not know what it will actually look like - Inventor will probably find some new way to make it look bad.

Change the texture size so its same or bigger then the part.

I have tried that now, it did unfortunately not work.
I am using Inventor 2024.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I haven't tried that, but it could help, making it look a somewhat less ungly.
I'll try that, if I don't find a way to make Inventor place the texture correctly.

I don't understand, why I can't set the testure to start from the edge of my parts/the surface, instead of from the middel of the part/surface.
(I think starting at the edge should be the default, as I can't see any situations, where I would want the texture's edge til be at center og the part).

The texture sice is already bigger then the part, if is only a small part of the texture that are shown, if I make the part bigger, if shows more of the texture (it isn't been stretched or tiled more times, and it is still shown with the textures edges in it middle of the part).

I have tried with a picture, and it my test I see, that the top is tiled both Left/Right and Front/Back with left egde, right edge, top edge and bottom edge of the picture at the center of the top surface.

The sides are tiled at top/bottom-center, if I extruded with "Direction: Symmetric" but if extruded using "Direction: Default" then the bottom of the texture is at the bottom of the part, as I think is the correct way to place it, (and the picture is upside down if using "Direction: Flipped" which also maked good sense), and at the sides looks correct left/right too. with the left edge of the picture at the left edge of the part.

What I don't get is why, the top of the box is tiled like it is.

I believe that someone at Autodesk made the decision that tiling the textures at the center of the top surface would be the best way to make sure ... make sure of something - I'm not quite cuckoo enough to come up what they could have been thinking but it seems as though they had some sort of conscious thought that this was the way to go.

If you go way back (there would be even more but they started getting rid of the oldest posts) you will see that this has been an issue for a very long time. Try to come up with different search terms if you only find a few, there should be many threads discussing ways that have been tried to get around this. (Be thankful that you are only working with a wood grain.)

OK, thank you, it does not solve the issue, but it is nice to know, that it isn't just me 😊
And yeah.. I wonder, what they could have been thinking, when they decided that were a good idea 🤔

If you look closely you can see that there is another split running the length of your part - it is not nearly as obvious. There are discussions about making textures that mirror side to side and top to bottom, or even (it wouldn't work with woodgrain) across the diagonals so you'd have one triangle going four ways.

There have even been attempts at splitting surfaces to try to control where the patterns tiled, all sorts of things were tried throughout the years, you pretty much have to find a texture that doesn't look too bad and then learn to put up with it.
