Export to DXF random alignment

I'm getting a consistent issue when I export shapes that contain angles that are not 90 degrees with the XY axis seeming to realign. I used to have this issue sporadically with 2025, but with the new 2026 it is doing it will all pads. I have to manually adjust each pad in AutoCAD now which is adding a bunch of extra time to my work.

Hi! I try exporting the face to DXF on Inventor 2026. I am not able to reproduce the behavior. Please see the attached file.

What workflow did you use to export to DXF?

I would drag select over the text section to highlight the bounded parts of the face, then ctrl+left click to highlight the remaining section and export faces as.

Hi! I believe it may have something to do with the sketch coordinate system that Inventor chooses to create the internal sketch before exporting. Another workflow to try is to create a flat pattern of the body. Right-click on the flat pattern -> Save Copy As -> DXF. The tilted angle may be gone.

Hi Johnson, it is a part not a flat pattern so that option is not available in the right click context menu. Also trying to use the 'Save Copy As' or 'Export' under File there is no option for .dxf file type.

Hi! Just for testing purpose, try converting the part to a Sheet Metal part. Create a flat pattern. Then export the flat pattern to dxf. Does it work better?

Hi Johnson, no it still exports on a angle. I think it is something to do with Inventor randomly selecting a new axis orientation during the export phase.

Hi Johnson, I don't think you are replicating the issue correctly.

First left click and hold over the test markings

Then with that bounded areas selected, ctrl+left click to select the rest of the surface so that all faces are selected, included those that are confined within lines

Then export to dxf and it will be on an angle. Just clicking the face and exporting does not cause the issue, only if you select the area inside the marking. I need the functionality in case some markings have detail within enclosed lines.

I never use export face. I always just dump my parts in a drawing file and export as dxf from there, then it's always WYSIWYG.

If many parts, is the text similar? Does different text produce different orientations?

It may be that your first selection is what it defines the axes from. Note that the edge of the 4 seems perfectly horizontal:

Now wait, so you window select the text but then you select each of the edges individually?

It's multiple parts, and even parts with very similar text do not often produce the same results. It's consistently inconsistent.
