Hi! Flexible subassembly can be the culprit here. It is because STEP doesn't support positional variations within the same component. I would use Save and Replace command to create a new subassembly and swap out the old one. Enable the Flexibility. Then export it to AutoCAD dwg. The point is to make the flexible instances unique.

Many thanks!

Dear all,

During the exporting of an Inventor assembly model to an AutoCAD .dwg model file, I noticed that some sub-assemblies were completely positioned wrong.

This happened to sub-assembly models that were set to flexible, but only starting at the 4th-level of sub-assembly. So an assembly, containing a sub-assembly, containing an other sub-assembly containing a sub-assembly which is set to flexible.

Anybody any suggestions on what may cause this and if it can be resolved somehow?

Looking forward to your suggestions and responses!

Using Inventor 2025.1
