Inventor 2024 crash using simplify - substitute

EDIT : 2025-09-18 (Temporary?) WORKAROUND

Vault add-in seems to be the culprit.

Deactivate vault add-in - simplify with substitute - reactivate the add-in : worked for me.

Thank you very much @johnsonshiue for finding the root cause.

Maybe it's actually better not to use substitute when working in big assembly and just insert the simplified part with a supress link in the end... ?

Hi all,

I'm getting constant crash when trying to simplify assembly. The creation of the simplified part seems to work well but it systematically crash during the substitute phase.

I'm sure of that because when i try to manually add the .ipt as a substitute : it crashes.

I tried with different assemblies (between 600 and 2000 parts). i've send 14 crash report in the last 24h...

After this post : Inventor 2023 crash using simplify - Autodesk Community from 2022 : i can say :
- my Inventor version is 2024.3.5 64bits

- no visible bad bodies in Ctrl+F7

- windows updated

and

- Half the RAM is still available during this operation.

Did someone experienced something similar ?

The Simplify workflow crash is usually geometry or file specific. Please share the files with me directly at johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the issue better.
