Customizing sheet formats

I am in the process of revising our drawing templates and am trying to create a single .dwg template file that will handle all of our sheet sizes correctly. We use ANSI A (8.5 x 11) and Architectural B, C, D, E, and "EE". I want the sheet size in the title block to be linked to the sheet size & I want the template to have A through EE in Sheet Formats in the Model Tree.

I have two problems, one: the "<Sheet Size>" property is linked to the "Size" field in the "Edit Sheet" window. The predefined A, B, C, D, & E sizes are ANSI, and not Architectural, so I can't use those as-is. When I create a new sheet format using the predefined architectural sizes, the "Size" comes in as the actual size and not just "B".

The other problem is can I edit or delete all of the stock items in this list? We don't use any of them as-is and it is just clutter. They are in the way of me being able to create the sizes we use.

It's just copied from the standard Inventor .dwg template & modified, but here it is.

I thought I had figured out a workaround for this issue, since you CANNOT change the Inventor Sheet Sizes dropdown menu contents, which is ridiculous, but I digress.

I created Sheet Formats for each size sheet we use. I then created Title Blocks for each sheet size with the correct sheet size letter. However a new problem arises from this. I can't get rid of this "Use Template" option when selecting my template under "Create New File". Every time I select the size I want, it is created as sheet #2 and not the ONLY sheet on the drawing. I do not want to have to select the sheet size and then delete the first sheet on every new drawing created.

At my last job, I created a bit of iLogic code to simply prompt the user for the sheet size, then size the sheet and place the appropriate title block and border. Worked quite well and could later be invoked to change the sheet size as well.

Note that the sheet size is an iProperty that the title block can display, so you don't need a separate title block for every size sheet just for that.

The iProperties for sheet size only works for ANSI sheet sizes A - E because that is what is hard coded into Inventor and cannot be changed. We use Architectural sizes, which is the reason for individual title blocks with the sheet size letter manually entered.

I will look into trying to do a prompted selection of sheet size using iLogic.
