drawing slow performance using sketched symbols with images - Inventor 2024

Hi,

Anybody familiar with the fact of drawing slow performance using sketched symbols with images.

Our drawings become slow after using sketched symbols with images.

Hi Arthur,

I vaguely remember there was an issue like this. But I don't remember what was the conclusion. It could be related to OLE linking. If possible, please share an example that exhibits the poor performance with me directly at johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Hi Arthur,

Many thanks for sharing the file! I am able to reproduce the behavior. Something is wrong indeed. It seems to be specific to sketch symbols containing an image in an Inventor dwg file. The same behavior does not seem to happen in an Inventor idw file. You may save the dwg file as an Inventor idw. Saving will be swift.

I need to work with the project team to understand the issue better. I will get back to you with my findings.

Hi Arthur,

So far the project team has confirmed that it is specific to OLE objects in Inventor dwg files (not idw files). There is definitely room for improvement.

Thank you Johnson for the update! Even though this doesn't really solve the immediate problem, I am marking it as a solution so that others can find it and see what you have identified as the problem so far.
