Hi David,

This sounds like a corruption to me. If possible, please share the Inventor files with me directly at johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior of hidden parameters better.

Many thanks!

IAM has (at least) two parameters that do not show up in the parameters table...

I have an IAM which gets some of its measures from a linked file, acting as a common pool of such measures. Recently I changed my design enough to upgrade it to a new version. I changed the measures file and gave the changed file a new name, reflecting the design iteration. I unlinked the old measures file, renamed the parameters which came therefrom (which were of course automatically put into the 'User parameters' section of the parameters table), and then linked in the new measures file. Two of the params I selected from the new measures file were renamed by Inventor to have a "_1" tail, which as you know happens when there is a name conflict between an existing param name and the newly imported name.

So, yes, that would be expected: except nowhere in the list of params is there any parameter with the conflicting name. I can type the original (not visible) param name in a formula, and Inventor accepts it without any complaint.

I think there is what I might call a bit of debris in the IAM from the old linked file, those two params were made local but do not show up in the param table. This is not a big deal per se, but it hints at some sort of corruption in the IAM, which concerns me. When I export the params to an XML, those two unseen params show up in the list in the expected manner.

How do I get rid of these invisible params, if possible?

There is nothing proprietary about the IAM (it's a made mostly of PVC pipe and parts, <20 IPTs), so sure, I can send it. But I'm afraid I don't know exactly what to send: just the IAM, or that and all the IPTs? And should I post it or email it directly? Advice?
