Can't Copy and Paste parts within an Assembly File

For as long as I have been using inventor, I have always been able to copy and paste parts within an assembly or even from assembly to assembly. I've always used keyboard shortcuts to do so. I would select a part within the assembly press "CTRL+C" to copy and "CTRL+P" to paste. Now I am unable to do so. I also cannot use the copy and paste functions when right clicking on a part.

Any solution would be very much appreciated

What version are you running? Are you trying to copy something that has an assembly pattern in it? Have you tried CTRL+V to paste?

I am using version 2024. I am not trying to copy something that has a pattern to it. I have tried CTRL+V to paste and it does not work. I have uninstalled inventor 2024 and reinstalled it as well, and still not fix.

CTRL+C and CTRL+V works on every other application that I have on my computer, including AutoCAD. I just does not work in inventor. I also tried resetting my keyboard commands back to default within inventor, and still no luck.

I use it all the time...weird. Do you have all updates installed? There is a 2024.3 out there. There is also the Inventor reset utility in the start menu.

I did not have any updates, currently running 2024.3. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again. Still no luck.

Its almost as if the paste feature is disabled.

But you know you can just drag a component from the list in the browser to the graphics area to copy it.

I do now. Thanks for the tip.

But that still does not fix my issue with copying and pasting a part in one assembly to another.

I've never heard of Ctrl+C -> Ctrl+P.

Ctrl+P is for printing, not pasting.

I have no idea where you got that from.

Ctrl+C -> Ctrl+V works without any problems. The condition is to keep the cursor in the graphics area while pasting.

What happens when you click Ctrl+C in the parent assembly and then Ctrl+V (or RMB -> Paste) in the new assembly?

Hi! Do you happen to use a Citrix virtual machine? If yes, there seems to be a change in Copy&Paste in Citrix. It may have been blocked for certain file type. You will need to revert back to prior Citrix version or contact your Citrix Support to find the setting enabling Copy&Paste for all file types.

I do not use a Citrix Virtual Machine. The Inventor I have on my computer is downloaded straight from AutoDesk onto my work computer.

You can copy components; you cannot copy patterns.

I am not trying to copy patterns. I am only trying to copy over unconstrained, un-patterned parts.

If you have two assemblies open, I think you can drag from the browser of one and drop in the other. (Do you ever have more than one window in Inventor?)

I rarely do that, but it appears that I am going to have to start doing that in order to use copy and paste

Hi! Please make sure all the critical Windows updates, the latest graphics driver, and all the critical PC vendor updates are installed. Use Windows Disk Cleanup to remove cached files. Install the latest update to you Inventor release.

Go to Windows Display settings and select the recommended resolution and scale. Right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Change High DPI settings -> check both boxes. If you are using dual monitors, please make sure the one hosting Inventor is the main display.
