"Open" option missing for multiple selected parts in BOM Part List – Inventor 2026

Hi everyone,

we've recently upgraded from Inventor 2024 to 2026, and we've noticed a strange behavior in the BOM Part List.

When opening an assembly and switching to the BOM, if we select multiple components in the Part List, the right-click "Open" option is disabled.
This wasn’t the case in Inventor 2024 – we were able to right-click and open all selected parts at once.

Is this intentional behavior in 2026 or possibly a bug?

Hi! I just tried a simple assembly on Inventor 2026. It seemed to work fine for me. Either one of the part instances is corrupted or the BOM is corrupted. Please share an example that illustrates the behavior. I would like to understand it better.

Thanks for looking into this!

We’ve now tested this across multiple different assemblies, and the behavior is consistent for all of my colleagues as well – so it doesn’t seem to be an isolated issue.

Additionally, I verified the same assemblies in Inventor 2024 (still using un-migrated data), and the issue does not occur there – the right-click "Open" command works as expected, even with multiple components selected.

However, I discovered an important detail:
The problem isn’t limited to multi-selection in BOM list. It seems that if a part/s is used in multiple subassemblies, the "Open" option becomes disabled in main assembly.

I also tried to install Inventor_2026.1_Beta1 and I still have the same problem.

Hi! Indeed, I have verified the behavior. When the part instances are promoted (jumping levels) or two or more components are merged into one role due to the same Part Number, "Open" command will be grayed out. It looks like a legacy limitation.
