topic Replace Family Template in Inventor Forum

I have a family of gaskets in a custom read/write database we created. When it was originally created we had no need to edit the thickness of the gaskets (parameter d10 for reference). Now many years later I need to be able to change the thickness during part placement. I placed a gasket from the family into a sub-assembly and saved as custom. I went into the parameters and checked d10 as export and went into the create iParts options and made it a key column. I saved the part, went into the editor and hit "Replace Family Template" and selected my saved part. I went into the family table and nothing has changed. I still have no way to edit the thickness. I tried creating a custom column, calling it d10, going into the family properties and mapping my new column to parameter d10 and again, no changes at all. It give me no errors on replacement or mapping, but it will not respect my changes. Maybe replace family template is not what I think it is?

How can I get existing parameters in a part to appear in the family table of the content center so they can be utilized?

Thanks In Advance,

Inventor Professional 2015, service pack 1, update 2
