adding notes to a template

I have a standard layout for our theoretical prints.

There are two text blocks minimum per print. The base text starts the same way for each print, and is changed as the print progresses.

One note uses larger text than the document standardand an atypical color to help denote design stage.

If I add notes to a template, they don't show up in a new document.

Currently, I have a read only print that has the right components. I use save as and place my new views.

Any suggestions on how to make this work as a template?

If you have it saved in the template folder and you select the correct template it should work.

Is this template named something other that standard?

The template is in the same folder as the others, and is named with the same numeric fashion.

Whatever notes I save in the template aren't there when I use it for a new document.

Quick test here.. INV 2015

I opened my template. added some text, saved template, created new drawing from template and the text was there..

So it works.. Now what are you doing different..

One thing to think about is while you have your template open, edit the definition of your border and place the notes within there. That is what we do on our templates. This way it will also show up on all sheets if you have multiple sheet drawings. Beyond that, not sure what you are doing different because the bottom line is even if the notes are placed within the drawing template, they should still show up in new drawings using that template.

Are your templates .dwg or .idw's ?

My templates are idws.

I've attached the idw

I tried attaching a jing video showing how I add text, but I was given an error message and had to remove it.

You need to use Text for your notes, not leader text.

Try the attached file, 2015 version.

Good he attached the IDW..

I would have never guessed someone used leader text for generic text..

Leader text is in my marking menu, Text isn't. I didn't think it'd make a difference what style of note I used.

I'm really glad someone noticed the difference.
