making a scissor lift

I have an assembly that I have a base then I associate a rectangular plate with rounded ends that has 3 holes in it. One end goes to the base the middle goes to the rod where it is scissored to another plate and the second plate goes to another rod that is in a slide. Every time I try to associate the 3rd hole to the other rod the plate totaly disassociates with the other rod. (the plate is suppose to be free spinning) What am I doing wrong?

the one tutorial he goes through it pretty fast not slowing down for me to see all the commands he is using and the other ones don't help.

the one issue I have is I have what looks like a sissor or x on either end with a rod connecting them together. I use the joint command and allow them to spin. Everything works great until I move the center rod. One side works correctly but the other side does not. The two orange plates are suppose to connect to the red rod that is in the grove and is suppose to slide. I can't get the whole thing to associate with each other. I am including the assembly file. Don't just put it together for me. Tell me how to do it properly. Thanks.

To avoid multiple post and for your sanity you can use a zip folder. Select all the files and click send to zip folder. Then you can attach the zip folder.

Examine each assembly constraint in the Relationships folder step-by-step.

You might start a new assembly and see if you can duplicate my constraints step-by-step.

ok first of all I am at work and when I have time I am trying to learn Inventor. It would take me a while to figure it all out. I need to learn it quickly. So I need to figure it out quickly. Could you send me a step by step process?

Sure, but we will have to start over from the beginning.

In you Sketch1 of the "Square 8 inch you have two redundant 8.000 dimensions and the sketch is not constrained relative to the Origin.

Step 1: Delete the two redundant dimensions and replace with one Equal (=) constraint.

Add the missing Vertical and Horizontal constraints (this should have all been automatic)?

Attach the file here for next set of steps.

Frankly - it might be easier to start over from scratch and use the Centerpoint Rectangle tool.

We will have to recreate each and every part in this manner.

I don't think I understand the nature of your issue. I was able to constrain your assembly, but not sure if I took it far enough. Take a peek at the video - am I missing something, or just didn't go far enough to see the issue?
