I did use the frame generator and am have a decent working knowledge of the
program, but am probably just scratching the surface of its capabilities. I
was unsure where to locate files. I did however find them. I had to search
the folder in the computer rather than searching via Inventor. I realize I
am probably doing this the long way but I am now placing each part on an
.idw one at a time.

Assembly to .ipt

I created a handrail as an .iam ( mitered corners, coped cross members etc..). There are no .ipt files associated with it. I can create an assembly.idw with a BOM, but cannot detail out each part. I have searched the message boards for a solution but have not found one. I tried to open in .ipt then derive, but when I do that all the copes for the cross members create individual parts (more than necessary). Attached a couple pics if that helps.

I don't think I have ever seen that. Can you attach the assembly here?

Did you use the Frame Generator?

If you are not using Projects (*.ipj) or Vault, I recommend that you investigate Projects real soon.

Trivially easy to create and use - and you always know exactly where your files are going.
