Hey JDMathers. Can you or someone do a video on creating a library and attacking it to an existing project? I do a lot of YouTube, but your videos cuts straight to the point. Thanks.

Are you talking about your own read/write library in Content Center? Or setting up the project file to point to a location where you have common components?

In addition please specify what Inventor version you are working with...

More like importing items/components and saving them in libraries instead of saying them as parts.

You need to set up a folder for them all to be in ...

In your design space, but not in your working folder ..

You're looking for setting up your own Content Center style Library it sounds like ...

it'll have all your parts there for you to pick from.

Then setup your library folder structure using a file management tool. Import and create your parts in Iinventor and save them to that location. Then follow the Video mdavis just posted.

Personal ... I like using the folders way like I was showing you.

It transfers over nicely to a Vault system if you have one (which you don't at this time)

It's easy to maintain, update and delete from.

So if you have it set up like this

...and you go to place something in assembly, and you see this

and you'll see it like this ...

As you get faster and more time on Inventor you'll be flying thru the folders to the part you need

Assuming you are talking about a custom content center library.... Select the content center icon and place a check mark next to your custom content center library.

Still unable to access libraries from existing project. I noticed you started a new project during yolur example. Can you do a video of attaching libraries to an existing project? Alittle slower please. Also during your video you highlited libraries and clicked the plus sign, that didnt work for me.

You need to clarify which library method you are referring too. There's the content center library configuration and then there's a folder setting located in the Inventor project file that you browse to and define sub-folders on your machine (or network) and instruct Inventor to use that location as a library.

The two are totally different.

In your existing project did you select the content center library icon button and place a check mark next to your custom read/write libraries? Then in your assembly select place from content center, When you do that, Inventor is looking at (and showing) all of the available libraries that you selected for that given project. So your (content center) parts associated to your two libraries should be listed.

I still need help accessing content center libraries from my existing project. I've setup 2 libraries both have been checked and I am still unable to access them from my project. Can someone let me know where I went wrong?
