I thought about that after posting the issue but wasn't able to choose which end to shorten. It always defaulted to shortening the top. So I then tried to offset the part to take up the difference however the offsets seem to only move the part on the current plane and not up or down even when aligned.

I am having a problem trimming a part inserted with the frame generator.

I have severa support angles that need to be trimmed 1/4" above the bottom of a frame. To accomplish this my initial thought was to create a plane 1/4" up and trim all of the supports items to it with the trim/extend command. I keep getting an end treatment error message and the reason is unknown.

Try the lengthen/shorten frame function instead..

No I'm referring to this:

and then pick on the side where you want to shorten...

Yes. That is what I used to shorten my part, however it would only shorten it by removing material from either the top of the angle or from both ends at once. Neither is accessible because I need the angle to stop 1/4" short of the bottom. So I used the command you are referring to and then attempted to move the angle up off of the original plane without success.

I found it.

It seems that the Trim/Extend command will not let you trim to a plane, however you can adjust how far to trim from an existing face. Since I needed all my angles to be cut 1/4" short of the bottom of the frame I selected the bottom face of the frame and adjusted it to trim at .250 as shown in the picture. This gave me what I needed.

See attachment... In the first image my vertical frame member is flush with the bottom of the frame. If I shorthen it and pick that end, I shorthen it by 1"

Is that what you're trying to accomplish?
