Thanks Everyone! I found out after restarting the drawing that the slow processing was caused by having two identical views from the same assembly on the same sheet. I guess autocad inventor got confused/ took up a lot of memory having two identical views on the same sheet. I deleted one of the views and the processing is back to normal. Knock on wood but no problems so far!

I am a student at James Madison University and i have a student version of inventor. I have a Dell lattitude that i just got in september of last year. I am currently making a inventor drawing based off of an assembly I made. I am currently on sheet 2 where inventor has frozen and is not responding on any command. I am forced to go to task manger and close inventor that way. This has happened 15 times. I have already installed the latest service packs think they might help but to no avil they have not. I also installed the latest drivers for my laptop. Any ideas on anything else i could do???

Attach the files here so that someone can diagnose the problem and suggest solution.

You haven't given any system specs or indicated if you tried this on another machine.

You might try going to Tools>Application Options>Hardware tab and set to lowest radio button.

Do you have plenty of free HDD space on this machine?

Are you using any template migrated from earlier release?

I don't go to third party drop boxes. Only here or Autodesk 360 (the Autodesk "drop box" for file sharing).

What file too big for what purpose?

Is this an AutoCAD question or an Inventor question (two different CAD programs)?

Do you need instructions on how to upload to A360 and create a url for downloading?

In my experience - frequenting 3rd pary sites like dropbox - stuff can be installed in the background without user input or express consent. I prefer to keep my Inventor machine very clean. I do not experience the problems running Inventor that many others describe here.

I noticed also, that the original image that you did attach here appeared to be a photograph of the screen. Are you familiar with MS Windows Snipping tool?

I've looked at your idw, and it should be ok.

I made a "Save Copy as AutoCAD DWG" too, and it could be done. But processing the existing 3 sheets took about 10 minutes here. During this time there's no response from Inventor, you only can see the green bar moving at the lower right edge of Inventor screen.

Looking at your Serious Error message: That happens from time to time after long periods of work without saving. You can click on Yes and continue working, but it's better saving and re-start.
