Understand... and no, did not do a "rebuild all". Once I did, issue was found. Ok, since i am a newbie, only using Inventor for 8 years (& solidowrks for 20 years), why have i never used the "rebuild all" ever before in my life? These are the things that make me wonder why i even have a job...

Thank you All for your assistance!!! Have a great week!!!!

We just migrated to 2016 PDSP from 2015 PDSP on Friday. So far so good until this morning. Boss's computer (of course) has an issue... Place Component (-100.ipt) in empty assembly (place grounded at origin into "stock" blank .iam)... We go to place 2nd component(-101.ipt) which happend to be MBS. We drop the part and immediatly begin to "assemble". We go to attach the particle board face to the underside of the table "face" and the flush / not flush "previews" are reversed. I tried it multiple times on his system with same results (yes, I do know the definition of insane). I tried it on my system and no issue. So... what do i do? Tell him to go home while i take the 7 hours to fully uninstall and reinstall? Try a repair? Get a hammer and beat it into submission? Why me? Anybody have any thoughts?

Files attached: -100 & -101 ipt's, as well as a screen shot of results of constraints (table legs)...

Thanks in advance for everyones replys (especially the ones that say they cannot replicate it)!!

Thank you for your response. I appreciate you taking the time. so of course i am going to ask you to spend more time...

Can you provide a screenshot of how this sketch is sick? the only thing I see is one missing dimension to make ths sketch fully constrained. Beyond that, i dont see how that would create / impact the results we are getting. Please advise. Thank you in advance!!

Inventor shows an i in circle in browser to indicate problem.

Inventor uses pink sketch geometry color to indicate problem.

I did not take the time to diagnose the source of the problem.

I didn't take the time to diagnose if this problem is related to the problem you describe, but of course this is a foundational problem - so it would not be surprising if it is the source of the behavior you describe.

ok... but this isnt good.

I opened the part direct from post above and i do not have any error. See attached...

So we open the same part, you get error and i do not. We cant mate this part easily as all "preview" mates are reveresed.

I give up.

Did you perform the rebuild all as JD indicated earlier? I don't see the issue either when you open your part. But when you do a rebuild all then the design doctor comes alive...

Jstanke

I understand your thoughts on "rebuild all", not a lot of users are aware of what it can do or have used it..

But its one of those functions that you should do every so often on your models just to make sure its okay. Unless the issue/root cause is already know, rebuild all is probably one of my first steps I perform on a model that has issues.

Also starting with Inventor 2015 there's a body integrity check utilty (http://synergiscadblog.com/2014/09/04/inventor-2015-body-integrity-check/) that will also check your parts and assemblies for issues.

The very nature of your problem description led me directly to Manage>Rebuild All as the first step in diagnosing the problem.

If you had posted in SolidWorks forum the same problem description - I would have said Ctrl-Q (rebuild all).

There are some things you might do that cause Inventor to automatically do a Rebuild All without telling you that it did - I assume that is what happened on the other machine. Does it show Sketch13 as sick?
