Sorry, I don't quite understand your issue.

Do you mean your drawing an Inventor DWG/IDW file?

I know the model can be scaled down in some way but does changing the drawing view scale (on IDW) help?

A golden role is modelling everything in 1:1 scale all time.

HTH

Hi there! I need to find a way so when making a drawing the dimensions are according to the model dimension used i.e I put a model in a reduction scale of 1:2 and the annotatios showed are as the object were in natural scale 1:1, in this case I would need that the annotations are half the value so they are right to the model scale.
Is there a way to do this? I've been searching a lot and I am not able to find a solution.

I would derive my model into a new part and scale it that way.

That way you would also have a model with true dimensions instead of needing to remember that it has been scaled.

I don't think inventor supports scaling model annotation like autocad does?

Use the Direct Edit > Scale tool to scale down your original model by the necessary amount, then make this last feature a separate Model State. You can use a specific Model State in a drawing view.

If you can't figure it out, ask for more detail or post your file here and someone can help.

Q1. Is there a logical reason that you did not model at 1:1?

Q2. Can you Attach your *.ipt file here?

Hi! Inventor drawing view geometry is true scaled, regardless of unit or view scale. It is essentially like using a camera to capturing the images of the model in a given direction and distance.

What you are looking for is AutoCAD-like workflows. You could use AutoCAD to annotate Inventor components. The command is called VIEWBASE. You can create associative drawing views to Inventor components in AutoCAD.

Many thanks!
