I have never used solid edge, but I'm not sure solid edge will keep the features hierarchy of the ipt file with a direct open. But again, never used it, maybe it does?

Hi all, I'm trying to transfer part files between Inventor and Siemens Solid Edge. When importing a .ipt file into Solid Edge, a popup appears saying that the Inventor Viewer software is required for the file translation. However, looking online I cannot find a download location for this software. I've tried downloading Autodesk Design Review, as this is shown as an option for converting .ipt files, however this is not the case and Design Review does not allow the import of .ipt files.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to transfer files between the two programs, without using the STEP format? I would like to retain as much of the part buildup information as possible, which is lost when converting to STEP.

"To open Inventor documents you must have Autodesk Inventor View installed on the same machine as Solid Edge. When you install Inventor, Inventor View is automatically installed. If you do not have Inventor view installed, either standalone or with Inventor, you should visit the Autodesk web site for a free copy."

http://www.soliddna.com/SEHelp/ST6/EN/importing_exporting_files/inventor2a.htm

Hi! Inventor View is still available for download depending on the version. Which Inventor View release do you want to download?

Inventor View 2024 (as part of Inventor Apprentice Server 2024)

Inventor View 2023
