I have a problem with drawing views automatically moving when I reposition an internal part of an assembly (in the case attached I have moved the upper mixer blade down slightly)

The drawing views that move do not actually feature the part that has been repositioned. They are a range of cropped section views, and a detailed view. I have unsuccessfully tried the following solutions:

- set view justification to fixed

- attached the detailed view

I am using Inventor 2014, from reading other posts this seems to be a regular issue. Can anyone suggest a solution?

I would first make sure you have Service Pack 2 installed with update 6 for Inventor 2014..

Thank-you for your responses:

I have installed SP2 Update 6 - but it has made no difference

I have set Application Options - Drawings - View Justification to fixed, is there another view setting that needs to be changed to 'fixed'?

I believe people have been asking for a way to lock or "ground" the view location for many versions now. As far as I know there is no way yet. Would be nice if there was, but I gave up looking years ago.

I've done some further investigation into the issue of fixing the view justification. I have now set the base view - display options - view justification to fixed, however in the views created from it this option is still set at centered, and greyed-out. I then created a new section view from the base, initially this view justification was fixed, but when de-aligned from the base it automatically changed to centered and greyed-out.

As it appeared that the issue could not be resolved through fixing the view justification I have investigated alternative options. So far, the best solution I have found is to create a new level of detail in the assembly with the blades supressed. Strangely, this action by itself results in the views moving around again. I then set the base view to this new representation, and tidy up the view positions. Now when I move the position of the blades, the views remain in place.

Extra work (which also requires a new base and section view for where I need to display the blade positions) - but as I currently only have to make these changes to 4 template drawings it is feasible.

Still interested in any alternative solutions that people could suggest.

As I know in NX Unigraphics, we can fix the view with specific point and certain area to define view position. The out come will be irrespective of model changes like 100mm to 2000mm that defined area the view will appear, for that we have to fix the origin point(most time middle of view) and fixed the scale also,, But in Inventory Autodesk it is not working or I don't know. Please if anyone have NX knowledge we all can do it in Inventory also. Please suggest.

Thanks

Prakash Durgad

India

Hi! I believe you can fix the view to focus to a place on a model. You need to edit the drawing view -> Display Options -> change Justification to Fixed.

Many thanks!

Thank-you for your suggestion - it's been a while since I originally started this tread, but I still have problems with the views moving around. Currently I work around this by adjusting the cropping and re-positioning the views on the sheet.

I have looked at the settings for the view justification, but this option is not accessible - I believe this is because the view alignments are broken?

Hi! The Justification options is grayed out means it is a dependent view and it is controlled by the parent view. You can either make the change in the parent view or uncheck "Align to Base" option.

Many thanks!
