question about inventor studio

Good morning/evening/afternoon,

I recently got an question wich i would not know how to start with or if it is even possible. if you all think its possible i think i should figure it out but i simply am not as much familiar with inventor studio as i am with inventor itself, and i could not find anythink on YT.

So here comes the request: Would it be possible to animate a steel wire snapping and then both ends kind of flying around?

Or is it only possible to animate on the pre-set X,Y or Z axis?

or maybe someone has a youtube link or a short explanation? even a little setup to start with would do wonders. but inventor studio also does not have so much information on internet.

Hello Money-Monsterd,

Were this possible, and I can't be sure that it is, I think it would involve so much trial and error and then perhaps not turn out as random as one would hope. If you have lots of time and want to spend the effort you could try it and let us know how it works out.

Features/commands I might use to make the animation:

Constraints (broken ends initially constrained together center point to center point, then suppress the constraint as one of the actions needed)
Parameters (broken end center point position, modify values as animation steps causing wire to look like its moving, curling, etc. Essentially, use parameters to drive things)
Bend command (used to position the wire for motion, combined with parameters to drive it)
Positional Representations (could create several pos reps with wires in different locations and animate between the pos reps)

I don't believe it's a quick or easy task. For an idea of what I'm talking about go to https://www.behance.net/gallery/6690485/Animation-Experiments and look at the 4th and 6th animations. These use parameters to drive different values. For the 4th animation, one parameter is used and all other parameters use that parameter as a modifier. Then, I simply animate one parameter to drive the animation.
