Guys,

My system had only 8gb of Kingston Hyper X Impact DDR3, so the other week I added an additional 2x sticks, bringing the total to 24gb.

I figured that this would help visualise the assembly more fluidly and decrease loading.

As far as I can tell, everything is working fine, however, when I zoom around the model parts don’t appear to load properly or momentarily disappear.

Any idea if this is related to the RAM change? Or is there something I need to do in Inventor so that it utilises the RAM correctly? I note that in Windows Task Manager, Memory usage remains at around 8gb despite acknowledging that 24gb is available.

Cheers,

Klis

almost sounds graphics related. Have you tried updating the graphics driver yet?

If you are only using 8G you are only using 8G..

Video card?

Driver version?

tools..application options..hardware tab settings?

tools..application options..display tab..display quality setting? try messing with min frame rate?

From help

Minimum frame rate (Hz)

With complex models (such as large assemblies with a high component count in Inventor), specify how fast to update the display during interactive viewing operations (like Rotate, Pan, and Zoom). To maintain a high frame rate, the system sometimes simplifies or discards parts of the view. The view restores when movement ends.

When automatic refinement is enabled, the appearance of Inventor faces and bodies is smooth. Select the check box to turn off refinement and enable coarse faceting. Coarse faceting can increase performance in large assemblies or complex models. Use the Refine Appearance command in the View tab to smooth the appearance when coarse faceting is enabled.
