Hello Johnson,

I have this same issue. Is it possible to change the parameters of a grounded plane like this without redefining or recreating it?

I have a model where a plane was based off a ref face, edge, and angle. I then used that plane to base a bunch of geometry. After The entire model was completed, I was asked to change the angle of the plane. I'm not able to double click on it to adjust the angle. Redefining doesn't work well for me because sketches lose reference to solid geometry and end up floating out in space. I would basically need to remodel the entire part.

What's more, the angle of that plane was based on a parameter. I assumed that when I changed the parameter, the angle of the plane would also change, but it didn't.

Is there a way to change a grounded plane like that without redefining?

I have a part file with a work plane that has the grounded/pushpin symbol, and parent or child relationships. How would this plane have been created?

I would like to redefine this plane as a parallel/offset from another plane, is it possible to do so or will I have to use a sketch to define the plane?

If it was offset from some geometry that has been deleted, a prompt will appears asking if you want to removed associated items, if you choose no, then it will generate a grounded plane in space that was the surface that something was generated from.

If this plane was created form deleted geometry, my guess is that it was a child of the deleted geometry.

I would suggest noting where this plane is located and deleted it, then recreate it using existing geometry.

Hi Patrick,

On top of other experts already mentioned, it is possible the workplane is grounded (right-click on the workplane -> Grounded). After the workplane is grounded, it does not have any dependency.

Hi Scott,

Welcome back!

Many thank!

Don't use grounded plane.

Don't use model edge to define plane if possible.

Define planes from sketch.

You should be able to redefine plane.

Need to be careful with normal and coordinate direction.

Don't use referenced/projected edge directly. Make them construction. Constrain other to them.

This way, you can lost reference and model won't fail.

Hi! Unfortunately, no. Once the plane becomes grounded, the parameters associated with it are deleted. You will need to redefine the workplane so that it will be associative to a piece of geometry.

Many thanks!
