I have tried to open a drawing (created in Inventor 2015) in new Inventor 2016 and all views are hidden. There is an icon next to views saying Error in view but I can not find out what kind of error.

- I can't attach the files, it's a bigger assembly. It happens with all assembly drawings from same project. There weren't any problems in Inventor 2015.

- Any error message during opening.

I must say that I am really disappointed with new Inventor.

I have found that turning selecting Raster View under the View Style does show the model in the view space. Which will allow you to work on it to some degree, but the model dissapears again as soon as Raster View is turned off.

In response to some of the other questions, I haven't had any error messages pop up upon opening an old drawing.

All of the files I have been working with have been migrated through from 2015 to 2016.

The assemblies I have been working on contain many items which were migrated and many which were created new in 2016. (I don't know if this would affect anything?)

It appears to only be an issue which is affecting my assembly drawings, part only drawings seem fine.

I have one drawing where the Top and Front elevations are missing but the End elevation is showing (as shown in the previous post)

And another drawing where the Top and Front elevations are showing, but the End elevation is missing.

There seems to be no real consistency to the issue.

We (my company co-workers and I) are having the same sort problems (thus my search which brought me here). #1, these problems are NOT acceptable (isn't there anyone at AutoDesk to "test drive" this sort of thing before screwing their customers?)! #2, in my world (I assume as in most others that use Inventor), I don't have the luxury of waiting for AutoDesk to "fix it" when it shouldn't have been released in the first place with these kind of bugs. My company will go bankrupt waiting for "fixes" just so we can release drawings when we have a $30k/day late penalty.

I am not only "disappointed" but I'm down right mad and disgusted. I've worked with Solid Works, Pro/E / Creo, and Inventor (which until 2016 I have been a staunch supporter).

I would be happy to send datasets but we have confidentiality contracts with our customers (not that we'll have many left if this keeps up).

I have applied all the updates (Inventor Pro 2016, build 210), and have this error.

View was fine until I attemped to alter a sub object for the detail view call out (circle shape and location). Then the view got stuck 'error in view' with little yellow triangle in browser and even after save close open, it can't be fixed. I did some testing, my design is of wind tower hubs on a railcar. I show things in shaded mode, they appear, I show then in line with or without hidded, they won't draw. The sketch attached to the railcar (detail side view) never dissapeared, only 3D model line generation is failing. Next concept, it is part based. I created a view rep in the assembly, and turned of a certain detail of the hub, leaving only its shipping foot, and the model lines regenerated without error. So my next experiment will be to attempt a file clean of the offending parts, and see if I can get the view to draw once again properly. PC power should be plenty, so I'm still confused. I'll let you know.

PC - i7 4th gen oc to 4.6ghz

24gb ddr3

2x AMD w8100 8gb GDDR5

2x SSD 250gb (ea)

2x HD 2tb (ea)

Windows 8.1pro 64bit

Fixed view error. (for now!) What did I do?

1. Checked out entire assembly (used for drawing base view), and all its sub sub sub sub parts.

2. Used Task Manager to Migrate files (enabled options: total rebuild, compact model history, purge data; disabled skip files), not from Vault. Processed 500 files or so, no errors!

3. Open base assembly iam, dove into most likely sub part, it is a composite body (from import stp/igs most likely), with 534 'bodies' that were all run thru repair environment, and find errors found nothing. Save, close, up 1 level update, save, close, repeat to top level base assembly, update save

4. Clicked manage total rebuild, and update mass. Save.

thats about all the file cleanup tricks i have, so I opend the idw, and changed the view from feet only, to full hubs and feet. The view redrew and all entities became visible. Moved detail call out, resized, and anchored, view stayed without error.

Good Luck everybody.

I need to take a closer look. @Anonymous, I know you have sent a dataset to Ladislav. I will work with him to find out where the problem is. @Anonymous, @Anonymous, @Anonymous, @Anonymous, please send an email to me (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com).

Me too! I have had several views disappear on my lately.

Drew this last week. Everything looked fine. This morning three projected views are gone. What drives me nuts is my detail of a projected view is just fine!

I have given up several times now and redrawn the views.

I'm a pretty casual user by the standards of this forum. But this has been killing my productivity.

Build: 210, Release: 2016 SP 1
