Unable to open Inventor 2015 files in In Inventor 2015

When I'm trying to open a Inventor 2015 file from an other company I get this message: Database schema for file: C:\ Users\ ....... part name.ipt is (20.0(Build 200096000, 96)), which is newer than this verison: (19.0 SP2 (Build 190223200, 233)) of the software.

How can I update to Build (20.0 (200096000, 96)) ?

That message means that the file you are try to open is created or saved within Inventor 2016.

So if you want to open that file you have to run Inventor 2016.

Got it. The question remains: "How can I update to Build (20.0 (200096000, 96)) "?
That is; Inventor 2016?

What version are you currently running, and how did you acquire it? What kind of license do you have? Are you on subscription?

Thanks sbixler. I finally found the method. Disabled Pop-ups, unchecked the firewall, and had to use the Web download method. Very slow, but did get it done. I have a Student/Mentor use agreement, and downloaded from the Autodesk website.

Thanks. I hope to be getting started learning this tool today. Will have many questions, no doubt, as I'm just learning on my own from the tutorials and practice.
