Hola,

Gracias

Hello,

I have difficulty with part numbering. I have a general assembly for which I create and organize the bill of materials, however the general assembly is made up of several sub-assemblies. When creating the bill of materials for the general assembly I don't have any problems. The problem comes when creating the plans for these sub-assemblies, when listing the parts they do not inherit the number that was assigned to them in the main list. I can't find a way that when creating, for example, assembly drawings (.ipn), the numbering of the parts is preserved according to the original list.

If someone can guide me it would be great.

Thank you

If I understand correctly, you want to create Bills of Materials for sub-assemblies that retain the item numbering from the main assembly. I don't think Inventor will do that as it treats every drawing Bill as a separate entity. You could create your sub-assembly drawings & renumber them Or copy & paste the main Bill into the sub drawings & just call out the sub parts, all a bit tedious.

The components ITEM number are always related to main assembly, as any subassembly has his own ITEM number in his own context.

If you place a sub assembly in different main assemblies, it will have a specific ITEM number provided for each specific main assembly context. The reason is avoiding same item number for different components.

TIP:

You can always set a custom iPropertie as your "custom Item Number" and create your own.
Later in drawings and lists, instead of using the standard automatic ITEM NUMBER, you can add a collumn with your "custom item number" to the part list.... but this will be a manual process.

Hello,

Thank you all. I was trying not to edit manually the parts lists for Sub-assemblies but I guess there´s no option for now. That is what i have been doing so far. I guess this would be something to improve in the software, maybe as an option to keep the item numbers related to main assembly parts list in case you need it.

Thank you both for your comments!
