Hi! Derived Assembly may link its appearance to the source component. Please edit the Derive node -> uncheck "Link face color from Derive source." The same option can be set in Tools -> App Options -> Part (the default for newly created one).

Many thanks!

Hello everyone,
We need to design a coated steel tank. We draw the steel and create a simplified set with thickening for the coating.
The problem is that the coating has the same density as the steel. What can we do about it?

HI!

In Inventor version 24 you have a new tool FINISH to help you apply coatings, paint, surface treatments etc..
This could help in this case.

If you want to keep using the "thickening method", i would use the multibody method.
Create a new solid using the thicken, you will end to have two solids: the part and the coating, and they can have different materials (density) associated.

We have two solids (we use the second method that you say). There is the first assembly which is the steel and the second one which is the coating.

But we can't change the material of this new solid, I don't know why.

Sorry.... you can have different appearences, not different materials.

...Anyway, you can turn the multisolid into an assembly (lynked or not with the multisolid source)
Then you can have different materials.

Tip: i would try the FINISH tool...
