CREATE CUSTOM VIEW??

Is there no way to create a custom view? I'd like to create a view normal to surface A and B on the part. I can see anyway to do this. I can "look at" surface A, but because it is not front, right, top, etc., I cannot rotate it 0 degrees and I can't "look at" at the other surface without rotating the model (losing the look at of the first).

Hi!

Select the "normal view" you need
Right click the cube and select the new view "as Front" or "asBack".... or "as home"

Later you can reset all this new views

If this is for a drawing you could do a Custom View Orientation when you are placing the model. It will allow you to view the model in a bigger window and confirm what orientation you want to see in the drawing view.

Yes, but I can't get normal to 2 surfaces, only one!

Example attached. I can look at one surface, but then I need it to roll towards me 90 degrees and there is no way to do this.

This can be done for your drawing view placements. After you get the Custom View Orientation of my last post, you can uset the incremental rotate and turn it your 90 degrees.

This works,however, it only lets me save it as TOP view which hoses all my other standard views.

Maybe i' m not understanding, or you are explaining very badly....

if the surfaces are at 90deg between each other, you can stablish one as the "new front", and then, rotating the cube you will have the second surface....

if not... if they aren't at 90 deg between each other, just place one as the "new front" and the other as the "new home", and this way, you can toggle between both cases using the cube.

Seems to me the only way to get "extra" views which are saved is to save a copy of the assembly for each custom view. What a PIA.

This does work in the drawing as a one off deal which should give the flexibility I need.

A standard ISO view isn't always best for exploded views imho. Thanks

Yes, I hadn't thought of that. This does hose your standard view though, and is not really a custom view. It does give you back the rotation options.

Yes, I've been looking all over for the incremental rotation. Thanks!!!!!!

Regarding Drawing>

Check also the tool Auxiliary, maybe it can do the job...
