topic Sweep fails in Inventor Pro 2011 without explaination in Inventor Forum

This is driving me crazy!!!!! It's a simple sweep to create a conduit from a controller cabinet to a transformer. The sketch plane is a (2) coincidence going through the center axis of (2) compression fittings so the sketch is 2D. The preview comes up and looks fine but when I click "OK" I get a message "problems encountered while exicuting this command". Nothing I change has any effect on the error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What are you cutting?

The screen captures you posted clearly show that you are doing a sweep-cut.

Let me guess.

You are trying to create an assembly level feature rather than creating a part at the assembly level.

When I select "sweep" the defaults come up as shown. I cannot select any other option other than orientation, path and taper. All other selections are "greyed out".

How much training and experience do you have?

In an assembly - you can only remove material, you cannot add material.

You are attempting to do an assembly level Sweep-cut.

To create a component at the assembly level you must first select Create Component within the assembly and then do your sketches at the part level. (you can do this while in the assembly - your current sketches are at the assembly level, not the part level)

Yep, you're correct.
<LI-SPOILER> </LI-SPOILER>
Most of my experience is on the sheet metal side without any formal training so this was the first time I have attempted a sweep in an assembly. Thanks for taking to time to set me straight.
