Is it possible to change names of Frame Members (F.G)?

Change the Text in the red square (image attached)

Inventor 2013/2015

The A1, A2.... are your part names. The '...:1' denotes the component and the instance that it represents.
The A1,A2... part can be changed, the '...:1' I dont think there is a way to change it.

Do you want to change the browser (occurance) name or the actual file name?

Browser or occurance name can be changed by slow double clicking on the name in the browser and renaming it. The file name itself has to be changed using Vault or Design Assistant (if you don't have Vault). Also when you create members in your frame and select prompt for file name you can name your members then.

Thank you for answer.

I noticed that the Frame Names in the Browser is different to the name in the Frame Folder. Is this normal?

Just for learning purposes how do you normally name your frame members?

Which version of Inventor are you using to create this frame? In your Assemble tab, Create Substitutes, Select Rename Browser Node and set it to Filename.

Does it change to match the filenames you have?

Hi Mark

Both Inventor 2013 and 2015.

I tried it with 2013. It did change them. What is the number after the frame in the browser.It seems to be 1 number out.I post this image.

Now if i want to change these to a more descriptive Browser name can this be change and also the same name appears in the folder?

The :<number> just represents the number of times that size of structural has been placed onto your frame. In the past (like version 2013) it represent how many times that given component appeared in the frame or assembly.

If you want the browser and file name to be the same, when you place your member, select prompt for file name in the dialog and you will be prompted to change the name. Each memeber has to be done serparately and watch the location on the first member you change. It will not go to the normal sub-folder <frame assembly name>\Frame.

I created this basic example to test. It has worked. I saved the Skeleton and Frame names in the New Create Frames dialogue box.I followed your frame members naming as well. It looks to have worked....I attached the example....does this look correct to you?

I looked at your names and they are ok.. Just like any name you apply to an Inventor part or assembly will be fine as long as you're not using special characters or going crazy with the number of characters you are using to define the name.
