Offset Tool no Chaining Lines and Arcs

Hey,

I'm new to inventor, I'm a seasoned Creo user. I'm trying to use the offset tool to offset a shape. I want to offset part of the chain. I've got all lines and arcs constrained to be coincident and tangent. When trying to use the offset tool I finally got it to link some of the straight lines together but it will never includes the arcs. How can I get this thing to work?

I've attached a DXF of the file in question. Thanks.

Hi,

Since it's a .dxf and not a .ipt I can't really be sure if your sketch is fully constraint.

Take a look at the screencast, I imported your .dxf and offset also works on the arcs when constraint to the lines.

Also make sure "contraint offset" is selected.

That way your offset arcs will still be tangent to the offset lines.

In the video above "loop select" was also selected by the way.

To check:

Click offset
Right click and see if the two are selected
if not select them

Here's a 2016 IPT. The imported DXF has 2 overlapping curves at the places marked with small construction circles.

After deleting them the sketch is ok, and can be offset very well.

Hey, Sorry, Busy all morning just getting to this now. I think I'm getting it. Also, thanks for the Vid, I've just discovered Ctrl + Right Click.
