I don't understand the latest question.

What version of Inventor are you using, have you installed all Service Packs and Updates for r2014?

What version of Windows OS do you have?

I thought this question was about dxf and now you state AutoCAD?

Do you now have a *.dwg that you are trying to use?

Can you create a Screencast similar to mine showing what you are trying to do?

Hi all

Been trying to import a dxf file into inventor tried the standard import option and does nothing, tried using ACAD route via a 2d sketch but this isnt working either. Is it a problem with the version or is there a workaround?

Many thanks all

There isnt any problems importing in DXF. If you are trying to bring it into a sketch, then do this.

Start a sketch (or open an existing one).

on the insert panel, click ACAD. Browse and find your DXF that you want.

On the Layers and Onjects Import Options, select the geometry that you want to bring in. Click "Next"

On the Import Destinations Options panel, I like to check the "Constrain end points" and "Apply geo constraints".

Click Finish.

This should place the geometry on your sketch.

Kirk

That would be great, however I can try to open, ACAD or import and nothing happens. No dialog box just nothing. Could it be a setting within the software that is blocking this option?

Sorry dont mean to confuse. Inventor 2014 Windows 10, I am pretty sure I have all service packs and updates installed but will check. Yes its a DXF file however someone suggested that route so thought I would clear that as an option. Cant screen cast tonight but will do as soon as I can. How would I know if there are more service packs and updates for i2014 and where are they?
