I'm going to say no ...

It needs a Window's system ... and I can't see even if there was a work around to have a processor and ram that could handle it.

Sorry

However a Surface Pro 3-4 I5 and up can handle smaller models of inventor

Inventor would have to be written for the Chrome OS

Autodesk currently doesn't have Inventor for any other OSs besides Windows

It may be worth trying a dual OS install on your chromebook so that you can use inventor when required.

I did a quick google, but I can't say this is the correct solution. It would be ideal for you to look into the specs required, not just including OS before you go down this path.

http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-install-windows-chromebook/

Aren't chromebooks made to be, uh, inexpensive as well? As in, lower end hardware...would it have enough juice, period, to even open it? Also, if the CPU isn't an Intel i something, i'd doubt it as well.

It isn't exactly possible to download autodesk inventor on google chrome, but there is another form of autodesk inventor known as Tinkercad. It has almost the same features as Autodesk inventor. You could probably find youtube videos of how to assemble parts, and you can comment on different work, share it with anyone with an account. You probably won't need to make an account if you just sign in with google. There can also be groups of people on the same work editing the same product. I'm a student, too, and I'm not trying to act like an advertisement, but yet I'm trying to use Tinker Cad to its best advantage. I'll post the link below, let me know if this was helpful. Once your in the website and logged in, it'll teach you how to use the website.

Link: https://www.tinkercad.com/login

TinkerCAD is a completely different product to Autodesk Inventor aimed at completely different audience and hence have different features sets and costs or lack of in respect to TinkerCAD. TinkerCAD is great to get younger students involved but pales when Simulations, Technical Drawings and other environments are needed.

Both have a time and a place.

Hi! Indeed, Inventor is a native Windows-based application. It has to run on Windows 64-bit. We do have users installing Inventor on Mac using Bootcamp or Parallel. Our Beta program offers install-free/browser-based internal builds for Beta testing purposes. I run it on my personal Chromebook during the weekends from time to time. It works but the latency can be problematic sometimes.

Many thanks!

Hi! This ability to run Inventor in a browser is not in a form of released products. Inventor is a Windows-based application, running on Windows (Win 10 at the moment). There are many technologies of virtualizing a Windows-based application. Essentially, you host the application or the entire OS+applications in the cloud. Then you access the application through a web browser.

On Inventor Feedback Community, we posted updated in-development builds on a browser-based environment (accessible through a browser and internet connection). It is meant for community participants to try the builds and give us feedback. It is not meant for production purpose.

We do have customers leveraging virtualized environments and access Autodesk products virtually. But, such services are not offered by Autodesk. They deploy either by themselves or with a partner under Autodesk's agreement.

May I ask why you want to access Inventor via Chromebook?

Many thanks!
