Hello to everyone ,

This is my first post ,i am in the begginer stage and i have some questions as my head is going to explode.

Im designing elevator car frames and the choise of using invertor has become a must still love autocad but anyway.

When im designing a car frame it is compined from many metal parts with different thickness ,it is important that all the parts come together by bolts and etc so im trying not to create one by one part.Im creating multisheetmetal parts but i cant make them with different thickness.

Second i realised that when i change the sheet metal defaults all the parts are changing so im changing the desired sheet metal default and by make part or make comp im creating the deired part with the desired thickness,but when im taking the deisired part and i place it in an another assembly it keeps the previous thickness from the start im doing something wrong with the work flow for sure.

Should be great if you could make different thickness multibody sheet metal parts in one ipt and you pick your each solid and change the thickness as you want and giving you each time the flat pattern.

Can you attach your *.ipt file here?

It might be better to use skeletal (master) or multi-body technique and then push out the individual parts and assembly.

it seems that i have tried to make them make components and make part and each time from the major ipt part changing the sheet metal defaults to give me in the assembly the correct thickness i need and then make again make part or make component the desire solid with the desired thickness and all this solids i m making a new assembly but when im placing them in a new assembly it has the update button.

Some how i need to brake the link conection between the major ipt part with the solid parts that i will take.

I dont know if i was understood as im getting lost in translation inside here.

Sorry we do not currently support multiple thicknesses in a multibody sheet metal part.

This is on our near term radar for a future release.

Should be a must in the futer cause there are industries like my sector that wants to create parts from one major part

with different thickness and then use their flat pattern for as many thickness the user wants and get the flat plattern easy.

Sorry but multibody sheetmetal is almost useless by the fact that only one thickness can be used ! ....

For simple creations like a box with a cover - its ok - but since Inventor is used by professionals - Inventor should be professional as well .... Try to make a complete silo tank in only one thickness - impossible !

Sorry but this new is very sad to the users ... its like giving your son a car but not the key !
