It shouldn't have been an issue ..if there was anything in the file,

can you attach it?

Yeah I know that there should't be any issues, but there was. I think the file is korrupt/broken. I´m afraid I´m not allowed to attach the file due to it´s a costumers file.

more than likely corrupt ...

With the new Anycad and the translation updates over the past few years ..it's not as common to get back files like it was back in the day.

If you're opening a native SLDPRT right into Inventor 16 and nothing comes in ...betting it's on their end

I have the latest update to inventor 2016. I´m not sure that it´s a Solidworks part, it could be proE, NX or maybe some other that use the .prt

If you switch to the "select" tab on the import dialog, there should be a button to "load model".
Does anything show up on screen if you hit that?

Then i also think it's likely corrupt or just an empty file.
Best thing is to ask your customer to send it again and make them check on their end if it imports properly with their own software.

Hi Mads.refgaard

If your supplier has sent the Cad model to you, can you check with them to see if

they have rolled back the Feature tree (Inventor ref End of Part)

You can do exactly the same with Solid Works to reduce file size when e-mailing data.

It might be worth a try,

Hope this helps

Cheers

Mark

Inventor 2014

I have told them that the file may be corrupt, and asked them to send another + a stp file format. yeah I know that trick to lower the size, prehabs thats what they have done, I will wait till the send a new file, and then aske them. I´ll keep you informed.

What version of Solidworks is the file? Inventor 2016 can only open up to Solidsworks 2015

And in Update #1 for Inventor 2016, that update resolved an issue with failing to open Solidwork 2015 SP2 files that were created in that version. So make sure you have SP1 installed for Inventor 2016.

I have no idea what version they have used, or if it is a solidworks file, it might also be from ProE or an other program, that uses .prt.
I have that opdate, and I´m aware of the problem about the opdate 🙂
I´m gonna try asking what version and program they use 🙂
