Trim Projected Lines

I am projecting a complicated shape, but I can not trim the projected line. Can anyone plz tell me how to trim projected Lines?

Welcome to the forum ...

You should be able to trim some types of projected lines ... it just depends on what kind.

I know you can project a regular projected line, but not an adaptive one, as you can see in the screencast.

Depending on how complex the projected line, I'm guessing this would be the case too

Are you able to share the files that you're having an issue with?

You can't trim projected geometry. But I suggest that you set the projected geometry to Construction, then place a new line constrained to the construction geometry and trimmed as you wish. This workflow has additional benefits, too-- if a change you make in the "complicated shape" breaks the projected geometry, you merely have to project again and re-constrain your line, you don't lose the whole feature.

I'm confused ..

You can see in the video you can trim the lines that I'm projected as long as I hold the control and they weren't adaptive

That makes two of us! I can't tell in your video what is the difference in projecting the line the first time vs. the second? The first time results in a line that is not associative (it's not yellow). In a part file sketch (not edited in context in an assembly, so no adaptivity possible), projected geometry is not selectable when using the Trim command.

the 2nd one is Adaptive ...

first one is just a line projected

How does the first one end up not being associated to what it's projected from?

Can you do this in a stand-alone part?

That's the different.

So it's a yes and a no answer to the question asked

You can during an assembly from another part as long as it's not adaptive.

You can NOT do it in a stand-alone part. The line will be yellow and unable to be trimmed
