Ok, that clears things up a little. The thing is, the "constrain offset" option is un-checked by default and I want it on like yours. I do want all the sides to move with the first dimension, I was just showing in my screen shot what mine does by default.

Any idea how to change the default settings? If not, I suppose checking it is a solution of sorts, but every click is in fact money! (as my boss says!) haha

Good Morning All,

I am just trying to learn some new techniques, one of them involving the Offset tool, and am having some minor difficulties.

The problem is when I use the Offset tool, the Default setting doesn't seem to be applying the dimenstion to all sides of the shape (in this case a square).

I am trying to use this tool to put screw/dowell holes in the corner of my blocks as quickly as possible (Im a Gage Engineer).

Any ideas on how to adjust the Default Settings for this tool so that it will automatically set the Dimensions on all sides with the first would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi!

After selecting OFFSET tool, click the right mouse button and select "loop select" to select every elements in a loop, or deselect "loop select" to select only the geometry you want.

BTW, end you select a tool, if you need some special adjustment, try the right mouse button and you will find a few good surprises.

Thanks for the quick response.

It's actually not projecting the edges that's the problem, it's all of them not constraining to the Dimension I set. The one line I dimension will constrain, but all the other stay unconstrained. I've seen videos online where people state that the Default is for all sides to Constrain with one dimension.

This is all I'm legally allowed to post. I've offset the outline of my tool holder and shown how I set the dimension, but the other sides are still all unconstrained.

You've said you went through videos talking about the offset but have you seen where to check the settings yet? If you right click when you are in the Offset tool you can select which options should be enabled for the offset you are performing. From your post, you would want Loop Select and Constrained Offset toggled of.
